Shave for a cure

16/03/2012

Wow, what a successful community event!! We raised $1,433.75 for the Leukaemia Foundation and had a lot of fun doing so. Sheila, from the Leukaemia Foundation had some inspiring words to share with us about finding a cure.

A big thank you to Matt Grieve, past Hilliard student, for giving up his time to attend our special assembly and his sister Georgia for speaking to our school audience. It was great to have Matt’s dad, Bernie Grieve, join us in having his head shaved along with Mr Meijboom (Deputy Principal) and Mr Crow (Year 7 teacher). Thank you to the many staff members who joined in and had their hair coloured in support.

Congratulations to the two highest donations, $45 from Lachlan in the upper school and $20 from Elissa in the lower school. They were lucky enough to be invited to start the shave and didn’t they do a great job! Also thank you to all of the Hilliard students who had their hair coloured (most of the school), your behaviour was outstanding!

Thanks goes to Ms Ransley and the student council for managing the day, Mrs Keen, Mrs Saul and the chaplaincy committee along with parent volunteers for giving up their time to support the smooth running of proceedings and hair colour and also to Amanda Young for helping to shave heads.
