School Safety Boost

30 September 2013
The Newman Government is ramping up its commitment to improving safety around school zones.
Member for Capalaba Steve Davies said the program is aimed at installing school flashing lights on roads across Queensland to improve the safety of school students and families.
"I am pleased that Birkdale South and Hilliard State Schools will receive flashing lights to alert motorists they’re approaching a school zone," Mr Davies said.
"School lights are being installed at schools where there is a significant crash history, high level of car and pedestrian traffic, higher speed limits or visibility problems.
"We have listened to the feedback of the local community, and I am glad to see lights set to be installed at these schools by the end of November.
"The Newman Government is committed to the safety of all Queenslanders on our roads – especially our students and flashing school lights will ensure an extra safety boost around school zone.
